Mercedes-Benz, An Apex of Engineering
Mercedes-Benz has been with us throughout history and known as a legend in the history of automotive innovation. Mercedes-Benz has a great notoriety for engineering vehicles that accentuate luxury and sophistication. For many, its vehicles are symbols of success, achievement, and status. Merceds-Benz is a name that is usually synonymous with quality in the eyes of consumers. It has developed numerous models of automobiles through extraordinary design and engineering.
This history of this company can be traced back to 1886 when they built the world’s first automobile known as the Benz Patent Motor Car. This was just a three-wheeled vehicle, but it paved the way for future breakthroughs. Shortly after Daimmler’s death in 1901, the first Merceds was developed. Built by Maybach, the car was specially produced by Emil Jellinek, one of Daimler's primary distributors, and was eventually named after Jellinek's daughter, Mercedes.
Then, in the late 1920s these two great companies joined forces and merged to form Daimler-Benz AG, and consequently became Merceds-Benz. The insignia was thought up by Daimler years earlier and the three points signified that their engines were used for traveling land, air, and sea. Mercedes-Benz only got better as the years continued and they soon became a brand that everyone wanted to own, but only few could afford. Aside from being a status symbol the cars were also raising the bar in terms of ride comfort and handling when it introduced multilink rear suspension. Mercedes-Benz vehicles made a smart decision when the acquired the use of AMG for their added performance. This deal gave Merceds-Benz the high performance they needed.
The company’s current lineup is the most wide-ranging in automotive history. From sedans, coupes, SUVs and roadsters, it seems that Mercedes-Benz has mastered all niches of its market aside from carrying a pickup truck. Perhaps that is in the company’s future as well and I would not be surprised if it was a big hit.
